In 1997, Envision Utah was founded to make sure that as the population in Utah grew, residents could maintain the quality of life they wanted. We listened to what Utahns wanted, and the Quality Growth Strategy was born—a strategy developed by the people of Utah to make our lives better and provide more choices for how we, and the next generation, would like to live.
That was 20 years ago, and thanks in part to the Quality Growth Strategy we’ve been able to handle the influx in population—but we’re still growing! We face new challenges as we prepare to welcome 2.5 million new residents to Utah by 2050. That’s why we’ve created Your Utah, Your Future—an extension of the Quality Growth Strategy that engages all Utahns to make sure we answer the questions that decide whether or not we have a bright future.
At Envision Utah, we don’t believe in sitting back and seeing where growth will take us. We seek to be visionary and actively secure a bright future for Utah. Read More
We start every project by asking Utahns want they want for the future, which helps guide the visioning process.
Next, we seek input and participation from local stakeholders and experts with a wide range of experience and opinion.
With the assistance of our stakeholder and expert teams, we draft scenarios for how what the future could be like depending on the choices we make.
We present the scenarios to the public through interviews, mapping exercises, workshops, surveys, and other means to figure out which scenario Utahns want to work towards in the future.
Finally, we take the public’s input to create a vision – a roadmap – for the future, and continue to work with officials, residents, businesses, and other organizations to make Utahns’ vision a reality.
