Community Presentations ![]() In the Spring of 2000, Envision Utah set out to visit 89 cities and towns and 10 county commissions around the Greater Wasatch Area, to introduce our local officials to the Quality Growth Strategy. Envision Utah recognizes that local governments play the most important role in helping our region prepare for the tremendous growth expected to come to the Greater Wasatch Area over the next 20 to 50 years. Our goal was not only to familiarize local officials with the strategies, but also to get feedback from local officials to help Envision Utah develop tools and resources that will assist communities in their planning efforts. A group of 35 volunteers from the Envision Utah Partnership dedicated their time to give these presentations. Each city council and planning commission member received a Quality Growth Strategy and a copy of video outlining seven key strategies, integral to the implementation of the goals identified by Envision Utah. With the feedback received from local officials, Envision Utah worked with local and national experts to develop Utah-specific planning tools to assist local municipalities implementing quality growth principles in their communities. These tools promote walkable communities, encourage infill and redevelopment , help our communities meet housing demands, conserve water resources and protect our sensitive lands. The Toolbox is a workbook that is well illustrated and readable. It addresses a series of related problems, with information tailored to different types of communities, and outlines solutions and practices in an easy to follow format.
