The first phase of the Envision Utah effort, the planning process and development of the Quality Growth Strategy, involved 135 public meetings, with more than 4,500 participants, the distribution of 930,000 questionnaires across the region, with approximately 23,500 residents responding, and more than 70,000 work hours dedicated to technical modeling. In addition, scores of meetings were held with Envision Utah Partners, the Steering Committee and local and state officials to help chart the course for the development of a publicly and broadly supported Quality Growth Strategy. Envision Utah is now entering the most exciting and challenging period of its existence as we take on the role of advocate for implementation for the Quality Growth Strategy in the Greater Wasatch Area.
The goals outlined in the Quality Growth Strategy can be realized over time by the careful and deliberate pursuit of various implementation strategies. Over the next five years, working with our influential and diverse Partnership, Envision Utah will provide training and resources to local and state government and private sector planners to help implement quality growth strategies throughout the Greater Wasatch Area. Envision Utah will continue to educate decision-makers and share the goals outlined in the Quality Growth Strategy. We will work closely with local governments, providing them with the technical tools and resources needed to accommodate growth in the Greater Wasatch Area. And, we will help communities create the kind of neighborhoods and environment residents want for their children and grandchildren. Because of the public support that has been generated throughout this process, we are confident that the Quality Growth Strategy will be the guiding tool for local and state government and private sector planners for future development in the Greater Wasatch Area.
